Dicsoft MKV Video Converter is a multi-format video converter. Although it says MKV in the application's name, it can supposedly open pretty much any format and convert to any format as well. As an MKV converter, Dicsoft MKV Video Converter lacks most of the features that you would want.
In terms of design, this converter has a pretty useful interface. It supports batch processing mode, which means that you can add several files and add them to a conversion queue. It also has a video player that allows you to preview your input files, but not how they will look after conversion. The player played AVI files just fine, but some MKV files had audio issues.
Dicsoft MKV Video Converter uses conversion profiles to help you convert files to a variety of formats. There are profiles for mobile devices such as the iPhone, iPod, Blackberry phones, etc.
In terms of performance, I am shocked at how badly this application worked during my testing. I first tried using an MKV file and I tried to convert it to a standard XVID file; the application crashed. But it first asked me if I wanted to use Ffdshow, a free tool for decoding and encoding files. Then I tried using an AVI file and converting it to MKV. The application didn't crash, and it showed me the folder where output files were supposedly saved to, but my file wasn't saved and the whole process took less than 5 seconds, so I am taking it the application didn't do any converting there.
